AIM Military & Aerospace Solutions

Optimized & Industry-ready Solutions

Your Partner in Military and Aerospace Electronics

AIM Solder caters to a broad spectrum of applications within the military and aerospace electronics domain, understanding the importance of reliability and durability of each. As global regulations shift and the demand for more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions grows, AIM stands ready with innovations in solder alloys and chemistries.

For decades, rosin and tin-lead based products played a vital role in military and aerospace solder applications. However, in 2006, the global electronics landscape began to transform due to European environmental directives like RoHS and WEEE, advocating against the use of lead in most electronic assemblies. This paradigm shift led to significant challenges in sourcing lead-based components and transitioning from gum-rosin to no clean chemistries.

AIM Solder rises to the occasion by offering an extensive array of tin-lead and lead-free RMA (rosin mildly activated) products tailored for the military and aerospace sector. With the know-how in the challenges that arise as lead-based components phase out, AIM provides both solutions and unwavering support.

What is RMA Solder?

Derived from rosin, a mixture of organic acids, the flux in RMA solder paste and RMA solder wire is non-reactive and non-corrosive at room temperatures. It showcases mild reactions with metal oxides in molten state, enabling the removal of light surface oxides from metals such as copper. For augmented process speed or more significant contamination, additional activators can be incorporated.

Though not designated under modern standards like IPC-J-STD 004, 005, and 006, the terminology of RMA is still understood and revered by AIM personnel. We are equipped to provide updated products aligning with RMA needs and also furnish standard lead-bearing alloys in these chemistries.
